With over 35 years of experience at board level, I am a qualified Level 7 Executive Coach and Mentor.


  • I offer one-to-one coaching for senior leaders who are either in the boardroom or have the potential to be there.
  • I have coached individuals across a wide range of sectors, including financial services, higher education, and the consumer sector.
  • Both individuals and organisations have sought my support during periods of transformational change or turnaround situations.
  • I assist individuals making critical transitions, whether they are moving up within their current organisations or moving out.
  • I have also worked with founders as they consider the future of their companies, including during potential sale processes.

Board Effectiveness

Requests to work with boards can come from the Chair, the CEO, or both. This may be due to new members around the board table or a strategy that no longer feels as clear as it once did. Sometimes, a board effectiveness review highlights a desire to improve the board's efficiency and effectiveness or a need for more space to consider strategy. Together, we can create shared clarity on the issues and develop a forward plan. I find that a combination of one-to-one meetings, workshops, and possibly time off-site are effective ways to move forward.

Governance Reviews

I have conducted numerous governance reviews, such as the governance arrangements of Welsh Universities (the Camm Review 2019) and a review of the governance of the General Medical Council following the Shipman Inquiry. I work with organisations, sectors, and regulators to carry out such reviews.

I regularly talk at conferences on a variety of topics concerning boards and governance. My co author Kathryn Bjshop CBE and I have run a variety of bespoke workshops and webinars for clients – these can range from one long virtual events to half day seminars and retreats.
